Membership Requirements

To meet its objectives of raising industry standards, SCOFTA has agreed on the following requirements for businesses to be accepted as full members of the Association:

All Applicants:

1. Sponsorship

  • Must be seconded by a current member of the association. Any person can apply and a member can second that person.

2. Business Experience

  • Must have been in business for at least 12 months.

3. Business Premises

  • The applicant’s business premises must be mobile (i.e., on wheels, have four walls, and possess a mobile food license).

4. Compliance with Laws

  • Must demonstrate compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal laws, including:
    • Mobile Food License & recent inspection certificate (SSC, MBRC, Noosa & Gympie only)
    • Gas Certificate (if gas is on board)
    • Electrical Compliance, including recent test and tag inspection
    • Food safety compliance certificates for managers and handlers
    • Must have a set of site plans indicating all aspects of their truck or trailer (to be provided once membership is granted)

5. Insurance

  • Must carry all relevant insurance for their business/vehicle, including:
    • Public Liability Insurance
    • Tow Vehicle registration and insurance certificates
    • Workplace health and safety policy and procedures (general compliance training checkboxes)

6. Food Handling Procedures

  • Must have an up-to-date set of food handling procedures / certificate

7. Social Media Presence

  • Must have a current social media presence that has been updated within 2 months of the date of application, with evidence of regular posts (website not required, just a minimum of one social media platform).

    • Truck’s name and logo
    • Plans and diagrams showing the truck/trailer size and type, serving side, access, ancillary items, generators, Coolroom, etc.
    • Cuisine type and dietary requirements catered to
    • Serving capacity (PAX per hour)
    • Events or locations attended, companies worked with
    • Contact information
  • Photos and Menus
    • Menu (catering and event)
    • Photos of the truck and photos of it in operation
  • Community Engagement
    • Be willing to engage with the food truck community and contribute to collective advocacy efforts. SCOFTA will act as a collective voice for food truck owners, providing greater representation and bargaining power.

  • Have you ever been involved in any disputes or incidents involving aggressive behavior towards other food vendors or event managers? If yes, could you please provide a brief explanation of the situation and how it was resolved?
  • How do you typically handle conflicts or disagreements that may arise during events?
